Bureau Veritas ADT can offer energy consumption testing service for EPEAT

EPEAT is a green purchasing tool promoted by US Environmental Protection Agency. EPEAT criteria are contained in IEEE 1680 which specifies the operation and 51 required and optional environmental criteria, classified into 8 categories, for EPEAT. The required criterion defined in the 5th category requires that any EPEAT registered product must meet the current version of the applicable ENERGY STAR standard. Now, Bureau Veritas ADT can offer the energy consumption testing service to verify the compliance with ENERGY STAR.

Per FCC requirements, TV receiver and related device vendors are required to display the consumer alert on the product label (including digital and analog TV) in a clear and conspicuous manner during May 30, 2008 and Mar. 31, 2009.

Per FCC DTV transition timeline, the analog broadcasting will be ceased in USA and all-digital TV era will begin after Feb. 17, 2008. FCC has some specific labeling requirements during the transition and has taken the surveillance action to verify compliance in the market.

The intention of MEPS is to increase energy efficiency by eliminating low efficiency external power supplies from the market and to encourage the use of high efficiency power supplies. The E3 Committee will work out the final standards in 3-4 months and will complete the setup of the registration system by this July. 15 SKMM technical specifications

15 SKMM (Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission) technical specifications for telecommunication equipments have been effective since 16 April, 2008. These specifications have superseded the JTM (Jabatan Telekom Malaysia) specifications. All applications for Type Approval and Special Approval for the product related to these technical specifications on 16 April 2008 onward are subjected to these new specifications. Due to additional requirements in these technical specifications, safety and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) tests are required to be exposed on the telecommunication products. DecaBDE Banned under RoHS Directive

The exemption for decabromodiphenyl ether (decaBDE) under the European Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive has been cancelled. This means that decaBDE will now be banned in electrical and electronic products with an enforcement date of 1 July 2008.

1st WiMAX Certification Body (WCB) in Taiwan has been chosen by WiMAX Forum on the occasion of WiMAX Member Conference in Athens, Greece during April 28th and May 2nd. Bureau Veritas ADT is very pleased to announce that Mr. Marble Chang, Manager of our WiMAX Testing Department, has been chosen to be a WCB at Bureau Veritas ADT Certification Lab with his knowledge and ability to understand most of the necessary principles that the Forum requires for this important position. It is another qualification again endorsed by WiMAX Forum that Bureau Veritas ADT WFDCL has the capability and capacity to conduct full WiMAX tests and help the vendors getting certification.

List of Wi-Fi devices must be certified WPA2-Enterprise from July 1st

The Wi-Fi Alliance is updating requirements related to WPA2-Enterprise device certification. This is in support of an updated WPA2-Enterprise Device Certification Policy approved by the Board of Directors on December 20, 2007. The implementation date for this new policy will be July 1, 2008, 10:01 PM U.S. Pacific Time.
