BV ADT is accredited by TAF as the 1st IEC 62368-1 testing Lab in Taiwan

It is pleased to announce that Bureau Veritas ADT is the initial testing entity who obtains TAF accreditation towards the test scope in April. IEC released new Safety Requirement IEC62368-1:2010 in January 2010. It not only has an impact on the manufacturers of electronic equipment within the field of audio/video, but also makes improvement on the Safety Regulations. IEC/TC108 recommends that the first edition of this standard be considered as an alternative to IEC 60065 or IEC 60950-1 at least over the recommended five years transition period. However, manufacturers and testing organizations may need to make products be in accordance with the new requirements and to equip themselves for conducting new or revised tests earlier. IEC62368-1 is based on the principles of hazard based safety engineering, which is a different way of developing and specifying safety considerations than that of the current practice. It is not the combination of current practices. It will be less technology (construction) dependent and more performance based, and the objective is that it will allow for implementation to a broader range of products and applications without the types of delays commonly encountered waiting for the standard to catch up to new technology/ constructions. The predominant reason behind the creation of IEC62368-1 is to simplify the problems created by the merging of the technologies of ITE and CE.
