Notice: Indonesia New Labeling Regulation

A new regulation mandating the inclusion of labels on various kinds of goods to provide consumers with accurate information, will come into force on September 1, 2010 for new products and 18 month transitional period for goods that have been circulating on the market before this Ministerial Regulation applies. All manufacturers or importers of¡@regulated goods to be traded in the Indonesian market must include this labeling in the Indonesian language. The Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia issued the labeling regulation as no. 62/M-DAG/PER/12/2009 on December 21, 2009 and its revision 21/M-DAG/PER/5/2010 on May 21, 2010.

¡·Products Covered
Specific goods covered are classified into four categories as stated in Annex I to IV of the regulation
Annex I - Household Electronics, Telecommunication & IT devices (46 items, please refer to the attached Bulletin 2nd page)
Annex II - Building construction material (8 items)
Annex III - Motor vehicle materials (spare parts and others) (24 items)
Annex IV - Other commodities (e.g., footwear, leather products, toys, apparel, etc.) (25 items)

¡·Labeling Requirements
¡ELanguage: Must use Indonesian in a manner that can easily be understood (Arabic digits; Latin letters are allowed if there are no proper¡@equivalent Indonesian terms)
¡EContent: (Must be included for all covered products)
(a) Name and/or brand name
(b) Name and address of manufacturer (for local manufacturing)
(c) Name and address of importer (for imported goods)
(d) Country of origin
Additional information may be necessary depending on the product type as listed in the Appendix.
¡EPlacement: Different products have different label placement instructions (where to locate - on the product, or on the packaging, or on both) that are indicated in the Appendix for each product type.

¡·Certificate Requirement
¡EImporter must label the imported product with Indonesian label before entering Custom area.
¡ELabel information shall be submitted for approval to the Director of Supervision of Available Goods and Services and a Certificate will be
issued within five working days after receipt of the sample.
¡EManufacturers or importers of regulated goods can proceed with business upon receipt of the Certificate.
