ADT test capacity on Ultra-wideband (UWB) technology
The
frequency range of the UWB (ultra-wideband), which is going to be
used in the committee member of European Union (EU), is effective
implemented by European Council on 02/2007, and limited in 3.4GHz
~ 4.8GHz and 6.0GHz ~ 8.5GHZ. Now the ETSI is developing the harmonized
standard EN 302 065 for ultra-wideband technology, the maximum mean
e.i.r.p density of -41.3 dBm/MHz is allowed in the appropriate mitigation
techniques (low duty cycle.. etc). Up to present, over half of the
committee member allowed UWB device used in their country. Besides
EU, FCC, Japan & Korea also made this device open to public access,
and Taiwan is preparing to setup the standard.
We
BV ADT already have lots of test experience on such device, and
is the first test Lab got FCC & Japan Mic certificates for UWB device
in Taiwan. top

Switzerland
introduces a new radiocommunication equipment notification procedure
via internet portal
As of 1 January 2008, Switzerland introduces a new radiocommunication
equipment notification procedure. Notification data no longer have
to be submitted by mail or email and are able to be done via the
internet portal by registering on the https://webgate.ec.europa.eu/enterprise-portal
site to receive a password. It is possible to communicate the notification
to the Swiss authority and to all the European authorities concerned,
which is called OSN (One Stop Notification).
In order to harmonise the practice with that of the European Union,
Swiss authority is therefore abolishing the charge for processing
notifications, which has hitherto been CHF 300 per item. Moreover,
the systematic replies to each notification are no longer available
unless negative notices are issued. In other words, the acknowledgement
of receipt is equivalent to confirmation of the notification in
the case of no reply within 4 weeks of notification. more

EuP and Eco-design Seminar
EU announced the EuP Directive on July 2005 in order to minimize
the environmental impact through eco-design requirements and to
improve energy performance further. Some member states have transposed
into domestic legislation. At this stage, EU is highlighting 14
priority products in the first-round and 5 ones in the second-round
per their environmental impacts. They include batteries/EPS, PCs/monitors,
consumer electronics, imaging equipments and so on. The implementing
measures of each product will be available successively since second
half year 2008.
After the seminar, we expect attendees may have the comprehensive
understanding on requirements of EuP to EU member's domestic law,
EuP & its influence on the enterprises, difficulties to implement
EuP, and its solutions & reactions.
