1st WiMAX Certification Body in Taiwan is designated to Bureau Veritas ADT
1st WiMAX Certification Body (WCB) in Taiwan has been chosen by WiMAX Forum on the occasion of WiMAX Member Conference in Athens, Greece during April 28th and May 2nd. Mr. Marble Chang, Manager of Bureau Veritas ADT WiMAX Testing Department, has been chosen to be a WCB at Bureau Veritas ADT Certification Lab with his knowledge and ability to understand most of the necessary principles that the Forum requires for this important position. It is another qualification again endorsed by WiMAX Forum that Bureau Veritas ADT WFDCL has the capability and capacity to conduct full WiMAX tests and help the vendors getting certification.
WCB, an individual approved by the WiMAX Forum Core STEG and entrusted with the authority to submit products as certified, may assist the vendors in determining what tests are required, preparing documentation and completing all requirements for listing. top
CRSL new status
On May 1st, WiMAX Forum CWG announced a new major release CRSL 2.0.0. From now on, to certify a WiMAX products, certification requirements need to refer to this latest CRSL version. And this major release version is active until Jul. 31th. For those WiMAX products which started their certification test before May 1st, they will still use the last CRSL point release of major release 1.0.0 as the certification requirements and the certification work needs to be finished by Jun 15th. top
MIOT Reference units policy
To select RUs (Reference Unit) used in MIOT test, WiMAX Forum CWG develops a document called "WiMAX Forum Mobile IOT Reference Unit Selection Guidelines" to describe the policies. Vendors wishing to have their products be IOT Reference Units, need to submit Clause 7 of the Reference Unit document to either Steve Heck (CWG Prog Mgr) or Jim Carlo (CWG Secretary). Note that the CWG/CORE-STEG will turn around a decision within ten days after the receipt of application. CWG needs to have Reference Units as the testings of Profile 1A and 3A are fanned out to WiMAX Forum certification labs (WFDCLs). Per the RU Document, three BS and four MS will be approved on a first come basis. top
WiMAX Forum announced CWG will finalize 3.5GHz validation plan
During CWG Athens plenary, operators demonstrate their supports to validation and certification of 3.5GHz mobile WiMAX profiles. Besides, vendors are ready now to provide equipment for certification at 5AL (3.5GHz, 5MHz) and 5CL (3.5GHz, 10MHz) profiles and there are 6 BSs and 5 MSs vendors willing to support validation of both. Therefore, at Amsterdam Trade Show (June 17), CWG will announce the plans for 3.5GHz certification. top
