Multi-profile test method of a WiMAX product

When a WiMAX product wants to apply multi-profile certification test, for the certification requirement, some tests in some profiles can be eliminated. This is due to the product uses the same Hardware/Software to support different profiles. Under this condition, the WFDCL will complete the test requirement of one profile first (which has the most test cases), then perform additional test cases for other profiles. All these test requirements will follow the latest CRSL version.

New pricing of a WiMAX certification test

WiMAX Forum CWG updates some information about the testing fee for a certification test. Especially for multi-profile projects, the policy is base on the criteria of frequency band, multiple channel bandwidth and class II change. WiMAX Forum had updated its certification webpage. The changes inculde WFDCL, WFDVL & WCB Contact, Certification Change Requests – CCRs and Pricing for Mobile WiMAX Certification as of November 2008. Bureau Veritas ADT qualified for Voice Over Wi-Fi Personal (VoWiFi) certification testing for 802.11 a/b/g and 802.11 a/b/g/n

Bureau Veritas ADT has been just formally qualified by Wi-Fi Alliance for Voice Over Wi-Fi Personal (VoWiFi) certification testing for 802.11 a/b/g and 802.11 a/b/g/n.

Products that may need VoWiFi certification:
(1) STAs: Wi-Fi mobile devices that can be used in the home or small office to make voice phone calls with acceptable quality.
(2) APs: Wi-Fi devices that handle multiple Wi-Fi voice calls from mobile devices with acceptable quality.

Advantages of VoWiFi certification:
(1) STAs: Toll quality (better than cellular and POTS)
(2) APs: Up to 4 simultaneous calls

Measuring parameters of VoWiFi:
The testing measures various parameters that control quality of voice traffic to ensure acceptable end user experience. It includes:
(1) Packet Loss, Delay and Jitter
(2) Non-loaded and loaded network in a traffic

Seminar: Latest Development of WiMAX Forum Certification

WiMAX is introduced into end user products, e.g. NB and mobile phone, more speedily these months. Using certified modules and reference design has become a trend. CWG agrees that 2.5GHz and 3.5GHz can be certified together due to the multi-profile design (including multi-band and multi-bandwidth). RPT will be introduced since Feb. 1st of next year.
