FAQ for WiMAX Forum Certified Logo Usage

Q1

I purchased a previously certified WiMAX product; can I use the Certified Logo without being certified?

A1

WiMAX Forum's Mark License Usage Policy stipulates the logo usage of a certified product belongs to a Single Vendor. You cannot share the logo usage with another vendor.

If you need WiMAX Forum Certified Logo, you have to apply the certification test and WCB will review the application. In the state of nothing changing to the WiMAX function, WFDCL can rely upon conformance test case results of the previously certified product. The Logo Fee and WCB review fee are needed.

PS. You can refer to CPRM section 8 and Certification Mark Usage Guideline.

Q2

What if a product has two different names?

A2

WiMAX Forum allows A VENDOR with a product having 2 or more names sharing a certificate and the logo usage. Vendor can provide 1 and more names of the product before being certified. If the vendor sells it to its client, it does not satisfy this rule.

PS. The Multiple Branding Policy is documented in CPRM section 6.8.

Q3
What does the meaning of a Product Family?
A3

The Definition of Product Family must share same compliant folder. Such as a notebook T40, T41¡Kand T4X are the same product family. There is no big modification to the WiMAX function, such as the F/W, S/W, and H/W version change¡Ketc. If a product changes its WiMAX function, it was considered a new product.

PS. Please refer to CPRM section 6.1.2.

Q4

What is different between Product Family and Multiple Branding products?

A4

The product family is "SAME product and its series." It is a vertical line to ONE product. "Multiple branding" is a horizontal stream to ONE (SAME) product has different names due to marketing or manufacturing issue.

A product family is ONE product (and its series) has 1 or more brands.
