Veritas ADT has performed First Offical WiMAX RPT test report
Bureau Veritas
ADT issued first official WiMAX Forum Radiated Performance Test
(RPT) report in the end of March, 2009. The RPT test report is fully
compliant with WiMAX Forum RPT Specification v1.0 for certification
profile M3500T-05 (MP12) in CRSL5.6.0. The test results without
applicant information will submit to CWG for data collection purpose.
Bureau Veritas
ADT has been approved as a WiMAX RPT Certification Lab from Dec.
2008 and recently we also become CTIA Authorized Testing Laboratory
(CATL) for Over the Air Performance testing effective March 9th,
2009.
Radiated
Performance Test (RPT) includes the transmit and receive
performance aspects of WiMAX Subscriber and Mobile Stations in a
radiated test configuration.These tests are used to evaluate the
radiated performance of devices that utilize WiMAX air interface
profile.

New
testing requirement - NCT will be active from May 1
NCT which stands
for Network Conformance Testing is made by WiMAX Forum NWG (Network
Working Group), NWIOT (Network IOT ) and ETSI experts. The NWIOT
defines two main testing scopes, one is NCT and another one is IIOT
(Infrastructure IOT). The purpose of NCT is to evaluate certain
SS conformance above the MAC layer, for example IP connectivity
across different operator network. WiMAX Forum has annonced NCT
will be required for certification from CRSL version 6 (May 1).
Bureau Veritas ADT has sited a testing equipment for NCT, and it
is ready to offer NCT testing now. top

UWB
devices certification for Canada will be available on March 28,
2009
Industry Canada
will publish the Radio Standards Specification (RSS) of the Devices
Using Ultra-Wideband (UWB) Technology. The standards will come into
force as of Saturday March 28, 2009.

Radio Standards Specification 220, Issue 1: Devices Using Ultra-Wideband
(UWB) Technology, which establishes provisions for short-range devices
using ultra-wideband (UWB) technology

(communication, measurement, location sensing, and tracking)

imaging (ground penetrating radar (GPR), in-wall radar imaging,
through-wall radar imaging, medical radar imaging, and radar
surveillance) devices
Enforcement
- The Standards
will come into force as of Saturday March 28, 2009.
- Certification
to the above RSS may NOT be obtained before it is in force.
- There
is no transition period. As of the release of these standards,
the requirements apply.

BSMI
makes a formal announcement that vehicle and portable GPS products
will be subject to legal inspection as of July 1st, 2009
After a preliminary
announcement that vehicle and portable GPS products will be subject
to legal inspection as of July 1st, 2009 as well as a draft asked
for public comments in January 2009, Taiwan BSMI released the formal
inspection requirements on March 25, 2009. The requirements will
take effect as of July 1st, 2009. Then, importers have to acquire
a Certificate of Import Inspection or Certificate of the
Registration of Product Certification issued by BSMI before
declaring imports to the Customs; domestic vendors are required
to acquire a Certificate of the Registration of Product Certification
or Certificate of Domestic Inspection conducted by BSMI before
shipping from the factory to sale.
Bureau Veritas
ADT has full GPS product testing capacities and offers related inspection
services from now on. Due to upcoming effective date, July 1st,
vendors are reminded to finish the inspection and acquire the certificate
as soon as possible in order to avoid launch delay. read

The
3rd and 4th Ecodesign Implementing Measures published in OJ on Mar
24, 2009
On 18th of March
2009, the European Commission adopted the ecodesign Regulation (EC)
No 244/2009 regarding non-directional household lamps and Regulation
(EC) No 245/2009 regarding fluorescent lamps without integrated
ballast, for high intensity discharge lamps and for those ballasts
and luminaries which are able to operate such lamps.
