Introduction
to WiMAX Forum Certification Program
WiMAX Forum
CWG manages the WiMAX Forum Certification Program through the selection
and oversight of certification test labs (like "Bureau
Veritas ADT"). The evaluation of testing items includes:
- Radio
& Protocol Conformance Testing ¡V RCT, RRT, PCT, NCT
To evaluate
whether a product meets IEEE 802.16e RF, Physical (PHY) and
Protocol (MAC) technical spec. and also to evaluate certain
MS conformance above the MAC layer
- Radiated
Performance Testing - RPT
To evaluate
whether a MS Product meets a required performance criteria in
an over-the-area environment, such as Tx Power & Rx Sensitivity
for the range of operation
- Interoperability
Testing - MIOT
To check
Protocol with known good devices to evaluate whether Product
A works with Product B which works with Product C, ¡K¡K.. in order
to significantly reduce product returns as there is a high probability
that product will work in existing networks

Bureau
Veritas ADT authorized to conduct New Extended EAP tests for WPA2
and 11n Draft 2.0 certifications
Bureau Veritas
ADT is just approved to test to the Wi-Fi Alliance test plan for
New Extended EAP of WPA2 and 11n Draft2.0 certifications, i.e. New
E-EAP (Extended Extensible Authentication Protocol).
What is New
E-EAP?
The current
Extended EAP tests only include EAP-TLS (Transport Layer Security),
EAP-TTLS (Tunneled Transport Layer Security), EAP-PEAP0 (Protected
Extensible Authentication Protocol version 0), EAP-PEAP1 and SIM
(Subscriber Identity Modules). After the initiation of New E-EAP,
Wi-Fi Alliance adds EAP-FAST (Flexible Authentication via Secure
Tunneling) and EAP-AKA (Authentication and Key Agreement) to WPA2
and 11n Draft 2.0 certifications. read

The
new Commission Directive amended the Directive 92/75/EEC and implemented
Directive 2005/32/EC of the European Parliament of Council with
regard to ecodesign requirements for television. (Draft Version)
This Directive
establishes requirements for the labeling of televisions and the
provision of supplementary product information for televisions.
Definitions:
- "television"
means a television set or a television monitor;
- "television
set" means a product designed primarily for the display and reception
of audiovisual signals which is placed on the market under one
model or system designation, and which consists of
- a display,
- one or
more tuner(s)/receiver(s) and optional additional functions
for data storage and/or display such as digital versatile disc
(DVD), hard disk drive (HDD) or videocassette recorder (VCR),
either in a single unit combined with the display, or in one
or more separate units.
- "television
monitor" means a product designed to display on an integrated
screen a video signal from a variety of sources, including television
broadcast signals , which optionally controls and reproduces audio
signals from an external source device, which is linked through
standard video signal paths including cinch (component, composite),
SCART, HDMI, and future wireless standards (but excluding non-standard
video signal paths like DVI and SDI), but cannot receive and process
broadcast signals;
Energy
efficiency class
The energy efficiency
class of a television shall be determined in accordance with its
Energy Efficiency Index (EEI) as set out in Table 1. The Energy
Efficiency Index of a television shall be determined in accordance
with Annex II.

Method
for calculating the Energy Efficiency Index Requirement and the
annual on-mode energy Consumption
- The Energy
Efficiency Index (EEI) is calculated as EEI = P/Pref (A), where:
- Pref (A)
= Pbasic + A ¡P 4.3224 Watts/dm2;
- Pbasic
= 20 Watts for television sets;
- Pbasic
= 15 Watts for television monitors;
- A is the
visible screen area expressed in dm2;
- P is the
on-mode power consumption of the television in Watts measured
in accordance with Annex VII rounded to one decimal place.
- The annual
on-mode energy consumption E in kWh is calculated as E = 1.46
¡P P.
- Televisions
with automatic brightness control
For the purposes
of calculating the Energy Efficiency Index and the annual on-mode
energy consumption referred to in points 1. and 2., respectively,
the on-mode power consumption as established according to the procedure
set out in Annex VII is reduced by 5% if all of the following conditions
are fulfilled:
- the luminance
of the television in the home-mode or the on-mode condition as
set by the supplier, as applicable, is automatically reduced between
an ambient light intensity of at least 20 lux and 0 lux, the automatic
brightness control is activated in the home-mode condition or
the on-mode condition of the television as set by the supplier,
as applicable, when the television is placed on the market.
Labeling
Requirements

The following
information shall be included in the label:
- I. Supplier's
name or trade mark.
- II. Supplier's
model identifier, where model identifier means the code, usually
alphanumeric, which distinguishes a specific television model
from other models of the same trade mark or supplier's name.
- III. The
energy efficiency class of the television, determined in accordance
with Annex I. The head of the arrow containing the energy efficiency
class of the television shall be placed at the same height as
the head of the relevant energy efficiency class.
- IV. On-mode
power consumption in Watt, rounded to the first integer.
- V. Annual
on-mode energy consumption calculated as described in Annex II,
point 2., in kWh, rounded to the first integer.
- VI. Visible
screen diagonal in inches and centimeters.
