New certification arrangement for Telecomunications Equipment in Hong Kong
As announced by the Office of the Telecommunications Authority (“OFTA”), it has accredited four local certification bodies (“LCBs”) to provide a full range of equipment testing and certification services. Information about them is available in the OFTA website. The four LCBs will commence service on 1 October 2009.
Under the arrangement, the accredited LCBs will provide on a non-exclusive basis a full range of testing and certification services with a scope not less than that currently operated by OFTA. In addition, the certification fee which LCBs will levy during the first year of operation will stay at the same level currently charged by OFTA.
After LCBs have taken over the testing and certification services, OFTA will cease provision of similar services. Please approach the LCBs directly for your future certification applications or related enquiry from 1 October 2009 onwards.
